Introduction
The International FAIR Data Stewardship Competence Centre (IFDSCC) is established as a collaboration under Go FAIR Africa, the African University Network on FAIR Open Science and Europen Universities: Leiden University, Tilburg University, and Technology and Societé Paris. The centre is responsible for the following
- Provides services to scientists in health-related areas and to the health services sector.
- Assists domain specialists in curating their data as Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR) Digital Data Objects.
- Specializes in the creation of FAIR ethical data pipelines that respect Data Ownership, Localizes storage under Regulatory frameworks in place (OLR).
- Offers services of accredited data stewards trained in the creation of FAIR-OLR data resources.
The IFDSCC is an initiative of the Go FAIR Implementation Network Africa.
Leadership Team
Prof. Munyaradzi Mawere
Chair GO FAIR AfricaHe is Professor Extraordinarius of Interdisciplinary Research at Unisa. He is also a Full Professor and Research Chair at Great Zimbabwe University (GZU). Mawere holds a PhD in Social Anthropology (UCT), an MA in Philosophy (UZ) and an MA in Development Studies (GZU), as well as a number of professional certificates.
Hon Julia Duncan-Cassel
Coordinator IFDSCCJulia Duncan-Cassel was the former minister of gender, children, and social protection under President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. As a minister, she promoted women's engagement in politics, opposed violence against women, and oversaw the care of Ebola orphans during the West African Ebola epidemic.
Dr. Sakinat Folorunsho
Coordinator IFDSCCDr. Sakinat is a Computer science educator, Girl-Child and Women mentor. She is deeply committed to research which spans data mining and machine learning.
Prof. Mirjam van Reisen
International CoordinatorProf. Dr. Mirjam van Reisen is a Professor of FAIR Data Science at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). Before that, she was a professor of Computing for Society at the Leiden Institute for Advanced Computer Science (LIACS). Mirjam van Reisen is also a Professor of International Relations, Innovation, and Care at Tilburg University.
